Flyleaf Second Thursday Poetry Reading and Open Mic featuring Andrea Fry & Lauren Moseley Thursday 7/12, 7pm-8:30pm Two featured poets will each read for approximately 20 minutes and, after a short break for the readers to sign books, there will be a poetry open mic. Please sign up to read no later than 6:45 pm. Each open mic reader will be limited to no more than a page of poetry. There’s an informal get-together before the reading at 6:30pm next door at Root Cellar. Andrea Fry was born in Dallas, raised mainly in New York City and the Catskill Mountains, and educated at Union College. She published her first collection of poems, The Bottle Diggers, in May 2017 (Turning Point Press). She was nominated for a Pushcart Prize for her poem “Murder” which was published by J Journal. Her poems have appeared in journals such as Alaska Quarterly Review, Barrow Street, Cimarron Review, Reed Literary Journal, Stanford Literary Review, St. Petersburg Review, and The Comstock Review, and the chapbook Still Against War, Poems for Marie Ponsot. Andrea is also a nurse practitioner at NYU Langone Medical Center. She lives in Manhattan with her husband and two formerly feral felines. Lauren Moseley’s debut poetry collection, Big Windows, was published earlier this year by Carnegie Mellon University Press. Her poems have appeared in the anthologies Best New Poets and Women Write Resistance and in such magazines as FIELD, Narrative, Copper Nickel, West Branch Wired, Southern Indiana Review, and Pleiades. She holds an MFA in poetry from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Lauren has been a fellow at Yaddo and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts and a recipient of an artist’s grant from the Money for Women/Barbara Deming Memorial Fund. She lives in Durham and is the marketing manager at Algonquin Books in Chapel Hill. Her website is
