Wes J. Bryant

The American Philosopher publishes hand-picked works from Wes J. Bryant—author, special operations veteran, amateur philosopher, and martial artist. Wes delves into anything from the sociopolitical and religious to the joys and hardships of life and family. Sometimes lighthearted, sometimes intense—in all cases hoping to stoke thought-provoking ideas and perceptions on things both common and extraordinary, and to promote the increasingly endangered phenomenon of critical thinking. Wes has a Bachelor of Arts in Asian Studies with emphasis on Far East history and philosophy from the University of Maryland University College. He is an avid student and teacher of traditional Kung Fu, which he learned while living and working in East Asia. Wes retired in 2018 as a Special Operations Forces TACP-JTAC in the elite Special Warfare component of the U.S. Air Force. He is co-author of the upcoming book Hunting the Caliphate: America’s War on ISIS and the Dawn of the Strike Cell, a first-person account of the war against ISIS releasing August 27, 2019. He is also a media contributor who strives to be an advocate and an intelligent voice for the combat veteran.
