Susan Meyers 

Susan Meyers, of Summerville, SC, teaches area workshops and classes in community programs. For the past seven years she has served as a mentor for creative writing students at the Charleston County School of the Arts. She is a past president of the poetry societies of both North and South Carolina. She has an MFA from Queens University of Charlotte and an MA in English from East Carolina University.

In addition to her full book Keep and Give Away, Meyers has published a chapbook, Lessons in Leaving, which received the 1998 Persephone Press Book Award, judged by Brendan Galvin. Her poetry has also been published in The Southern Review, Crazyhorse, Tar River Poetry, jubilat, Cave Wall, and other journals, as well as the online sites Poetry Daily and Verse Daily. Her poems have won the South Carolina Review Poetry Prize, Yemassees Pocataligo Poetry Contest, and Crucibles Sam Ragan Prize. Her reviews have appeared in The Post and Courier, South Carolina Review, Calyx, The Charlotte Observer, and elsewhere.
She has read her work for the Library of Congress Poetry at Noon Series, Eastern NC Literary Homecoming at East Carolina University, the SC Center for the Book, Litchfield Moveable Feast, and various other venues in the Carolinas and the Southeast.

She has also enjoyed reading at favorite indie bookstores, including Malaprop's and Quail Ridge.
