UNCG MFA Student Reading: Emma Listen & Michelle Reed UNCG MFA Student Reading Firday, February 9, 7pm Emma Listen is a native of Jackson, Mississippi, and is a 2012 graduate of St. Andrew’s Episcopal School; she graduated cum laude with a major in English and a minor in Italian from the University of Mississippi in 2016. This year she was named the recipient of the Randall Jerrell Fellowship, and in the past she has won writing awards from the Southern Literary Festival, the Mississippi Literary Competition, and the Eudora Welty Writing Competition. She is currently working on her first novel. Michelle Reed's first book of poems, I Don't Need to Make a Pretty Thing, was a runner-up for the Hudson Prize and is available from Black Lawrence Press. Her poetry has appeared or is forthcoming in Verse Daily, The Fem, Waxwing, and Salt Hill, among others. Recently, she was a semifinalist for The Florida Review Editor's Prize in Nonfiction and a finalist for North Carolina Literary Review's Alex Albright Creative Nonfiction Prize.
