Author Scot Shively (Punta Gorda History) Tuesday February 6, 2018 6:00 PM Join us on Tuesday, February 6th at 6 pm to hear Punta Gorda resident Scot Shively talk about his ever-popular local history book, Punta Gorda, part of the “Images of America” series published by Arcadia Publishing. Scot co-authored the book with Ann M. O'Phelan, along with the Blanchard House Museum of African American History and Culture and the Punta Gorda Historical Society. RSVP to (941) 205-2560 or copperfishbooks@comcast.net. Residents and visitors alike can’t get enough stories about Punta Gorda’s beginnings, its notable events and people, its buildings and industry, and even its (shhh) gossip. Whether you’re new in town or have lived here for a while, you’re sure to enjoy Scot’s talk. Scot Shively is a retired U.S. Air Force Lt Colonel. Since his retirement in 2006, Scot has been an active volunteer in local history organizations. He is a Board Member and historian at the Blanchard House Museum of African American History, a member of the Charlotte County Curriculum Committee for local history into social studies, a member of the Charlotte County Historical Society and the Punta Gorda Historical Society, and a living history docent for Charlotte County Historical Center.
