Greensboro Bound presents Literary Jungle, Literary Community: Self-Publishing Panel Discussion Greensboro Bound presents Literary Jungle, Literary Community a three part series for writers and would-be writers hoping to navigate the literary world Wednesday, January 17, 7pm Self-Publishing Panel Discussion Part 1 focuses on the advantages and disadvantages of self publishing from the author side and the bookseller side. Independent bookstore owners and successful self-published authors talk about what it means to self-publish, how to do it right, and the importance of building literary community in the process. Panelists: Brian Lampkin is a poet and co-owner of Scuppernong Books. He is a former anarchist and founder of Rust Belt Books in Buffalo, New York. In addition to being a bookseller, he is a lyricist and spoken-word member of the band, The Difficulties. Ashley R. “Milli” Lumpkin was born on Juneteenth in Arizona and leaves it to you to draw conclusions about freedom and fire. She is the author of two chapbooks, {} At First Sight and Terrorism and Other Topics for Tea, and one full length collection,#AshleyLumpkin. A lover of performance as well as the written word, she has been a competing member of Piedmont SLAM, Scuppernong Slammers, and the Bull City Slam team. She hosts the open mic series “Untitled: New Works and Works in Progress.” Ashley has been a featured presenter and/or facilitator at various colleges and universities across the country. His fiction and poetry has appeared in december magazine, The Southeast Review, Contrary, The North Carolina Literary Review, and Flash Fiction Magazine, among others.
