Sundry Poets Sunday afternoons often mean poetry. Join us for a trio of NC poets on Sunday, December 3, at 2 pm. Reading from their works are: Jan Harrington with Waiting for the Hurricane, Alana Darenhart Sherill with Blood, and Priscilla Webster-Williams with The Narrative Possibilities of Coral. Jan Harrington’s book of narrative poems, Waiting for the Hurricane, is about three generations of a family and the dark secrets they kept, as well as the recipient of the 2016/2017 Lena Shull Award given by the North Carolina Poetry Society. Priscilla Webster-Williams grew up in Chicago, lived in New England, and now resides in Durham. Her poetry has garnered several awards, including the Poet Laureate Award from the North Carolina Poetry Society and The Rash Award in Poetry sponsored by Gardner-Webb University. Alana Dagenhart Sherrill’s work focuses on place in poetry of the southern Appalachian Mountains, for which she won the Caldwell Nixon, Jr. Contest from the North Carolina Poetry Society. Blood is her first chapbook. This event will be moderated by poet, Jo Taylor. Event date: Sunday, December 3, 2017 - 2:00pm Event address: North Hills 4209-100 Lassiter Mill Road Raleigh, NC 27609
