Humanities in Action: How Should We Inhabit the Earth? Reconciling Biodiversity, Conservation and Environmental Sustainability Presented by Carolina Public Humanities With Peter White, Professor of Biology Biologist E.O. Wilson has suggested that half the earth be set aside for biodiversity to stem the extinction of diverse species, but how can we design such a solution and how can ecological sustainability be reconciled with other human needs? This talk will explore these critical environmental and ethical issues, with reference also to the pioneering ideas of the ecologist Aldo Leopold.
