Flyleaf Second Thursday Poetry Reading and Open Mic Thu 8/10 7pm-8:30pm: Flyleaf Second Thursday Poetry Reading and Open Mic featuring Kelly Lenox and Janet Joyner Two featured poets will each read for approximately 20 minutes and, after a short break for the readers to sign books, there will be a poetry open mic. Please sign up to read no later than 6:45 pm. Each open mic reader will be limited to no more than a page of poetry. There’s an informal get-together before the reading at 6:30pm next door at Root Cellar. Kelly Lenox’s debut collection of poetry, The Brightest Rock, was published in 2017. New poems are published or forthcoming in EcoTheo Review, Cider Press Review, Kakalak 17, Main Street Rag, Soundings Review, and Visions International. Kelly holds an MFA from Vermont College of Fine Arts and lives in Durham, NC. ( Janet Joyner's prize winning poems have appeared in numerous magazines including the 201l Yearbook of the South Carolina Poetry Society, Bay Leaves of the North Carolina Poetry Council in 2010, 2011, Flying South in 2014, and in 2015, as well as The Southern Poetry Anthology, volume vii, North Carolina. Her first collection of poems, Waterborne, is the winner of the Holland Prize and was published by Logan House Press in February 2016.
