Fiction on the Edge is the theme of tonight's discussion. Howard Owen will be interviewing debut novelist David Williams about his highly anticipated When The English Fall. When The English Fall finds us in a near future where modern civilization has collapsed. The Amish (to whom everyone who is not-Amish is The English) find themselves more prepared than most to survive the new world. The protagonist finds himself in coflict: does he protect his family or his belief in a non-violent way of life? The Devil's Triangle is number six in the Willie Black mysteries and just received a starred review in Publishers Weekly where they described it as "superior" and they are big favorites here at Fountain. David Williams is a pastor in the Presbyterian Church (USA). He's also driven forklifts, taught games of skill and chance in Colonial Williamsburg, and managed a major research grantmaking program at the Aspen Institute. He now serves a little church that is, like the TARDIS, much bigger on the inside. He likes his motorcycles dirty, his coffee strong, and his beers hoppy. He blogs at and lives in Annandale, Virginia. Howard Owen is the author of 17 novels and is the business editor of The Free Lance-Star in Fredericksburg. His first novel, Littlejohn, was written in 1989 when he was 40 and published in 1992. His newest novel, The Devil's Triangle, will be published in June 2017. He is a winner of the Dashiell Hammett Award for Excellence in Crime Fiction. Event date: Thursday, August 3, 2017 - 6:30pm Event address: 1312 East Cary Street Richmond, VA 23219
