Author event with Glenn Schaefer author of Baseball Through My Father’s Eyes A native of the south side of Chicago, Glenn Schaefer remains a loyal fan of deep-dish pizza and the Chicago White Sox, even while residing in Tennessee. Schaefer earned his BA degree in marketing and public relations and has worked in media relations for 20 years, including 15 years with CBS radio and television. Currently, Schaefer writes editorial opinion pieces for numerous Midwest newspapers and consults on media buying at local advertising agencies. Schaefer completed his Master’s degree in Fine Arts/Creative Writing from Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey and has been accepted for Ph.D. studies in social justice at Antioch University. An advocate for the homeless, Schaefer has authored a memoir book called Oh, You’re One of Those People, which looks at the plight of the homeless from first-hand experience. No One Knows was collaboration with teacher/author Amy Kurtz and discusses a family who experiences the pain and embarrassment of homelessness. His third book, Baseball Through My Father’s Eyes came out in 2016. Schaefer’s spare time is spent speaking to groups on behalf of the National Coalition for the Homeless and assisting in fund raising events for local shelters.
