A note from Kelly Justice, owner of Fountain:
We welcome back one of my all-time favorite authors, the extraordinary Michael Knight.
If you only attend one Fountain author event this year, please consider this one. Here is how I feel about Eveningland:
The only complaint that I have about Michael Knight's books is that they don't come out fast enough. But Eveningland, just as with the rest of his books, has been worth the agonizing wait. Knight is a writer as good and probably better than any in American letters living today. These stories are also as good as any written by past greats such as Fitzgerald, O'Connor, and Cheever. All set in a contemporary Mobile Bay anticipating a massive hurricane, the characters too are buzzing with the possibility of loss. The interior and exterior landscapes are masterfully drawn, sometimes funny. The emotional accuracy in these stories is heartbreaking and absolute. Knight is in the rare class of writers who are able to put into words the feelings for which, until now, we have had no way to express. I have read these stories many times over and will read them again many more.
