Sydney Nathans - A Mind to Stay: White Plantation, Black Homeland The Great Migration was the large-scale movement of African-Americans from the South to the North. Sydney Nathans, Professor Emeritus at Duke, shares the story of a great 'stay' - a group of emancipated slaves who bought the land they worked from owner Paul Cameron, and kept it their own community through the Civil Rights era. The Cameron family (as in Cameron Park and Cameron Village) figures prominently in events. Hear the story of A Mind to Stay: White Plantation, Black Homeland on Monday, February 20, at 7 pm. Event date: Monday, February 20, 2017 - 7:00pm Event address: North Hills 4209-100 Lassiter Mill Road Raleigh, NC 27609
