Crystal Day

Crystal Day has officially made her debut into the children’s author world with “Mason the Bull”. As a child, author, singer-songwriter, and actress Crystal Day shared an incredible passion for the arts. She has continuously defined her purpose through creative expression ever since. Born in the heart of Virginia to racetrack owners, Day quickly became affluent to the fast and unpredictable lifestyle of an entertainer. By the time she was a teenager, Day had an impressive resume consisting of musical theater and acting experience under her belt. Crystal Day relates her experience with writing and performing to her parents and teachers who encouraged her to use her imagination. Her first book writing “experience” was with a book Crystal wrote as a small child which was titled, “The Cat and the Rainbow”. Mason the Bull was the first time she felt to put pen to paper and create a book built for somebody else. The book was inspired by a traumatic family accident that involved an accident with her father. With the recovery of her father, she wanted to take this traumatic event and turn it into something positive. She wanted to incorporate her personal struggles to inspire kids to be whatever they wanted to be in life. The illustrations were a vital part of what she envisioned for Mason the Bull. After speaking with peers, she really wanted this to be a book that could connect with children who were learning to read or even had struggles with reading. He illustrator, Allison, was able to create contrasting pictures with vibrant tones from pictures Crystal had sent from her parents farm.
