My poetry has been published in Stone, River, Sky: an Anthology of Georgia Poetry, The 2011 Hippocrates Prize for Poetry and Medicine The Apalachee Review, The Healing Muse, Ars Medica, and my chapbook, Brancusi’s Egg, was published by Finishing Line Press in 2013. My novel, The Timekeeper’s Son, was published by Deeds Publishing November 2016. My screenplay, One of Us, was a finalist in the CineStory screenplay contest, and my radio play A Wagner Matinee, was aired on BBC Radio and NPR. I have been a fellow at the Hambidge Center, and have received several scholarships to the Squaw Valley Community of Writers. I have a M.A. degree in English Literature from Boston College, and I have taught at the University of Georgia, The Georgia Institute of Technology, and Piedmont College. After my own struggle with trauma and chronic illness, I designed a writing to heal class for a local cancer center. This has been the most rewarding work I have done by far. In the eleven years of facilitating this workshop, I have presented at international conferences and published in the field of writing to heal. I live in Athens, Georgia, with my husband, Todd, a retired physicist. We have four grown children, a dog and a cat. When I am not writing, I enjoy gardening, singing, dancing, and traveling. I feel blessed to live in such a wonderful community.
