Sheila Ingle 

Sheila is a native South Carolinian and instructor at USC Upstate. Since she was a child, reading has been her passion. Both her grandmothers instilled in her a love for history and for storytelling. Sheila began her second career five years ago. Her first book, COURAGEOUS KATE, was published in 2005. It is a fictionalized biography, written for children, about Kate Moore Barry, a Revolutionary War heroine in S.C. This book won the 2007 Historic Preservation Award by the NSDAR, In 2008 a Teachers CD Study Guide was released on COURAGEOUS KATE that meets national language arts and social studies standards. Her loves of history and reading led her to writing this first book in her series about Revolutionary War women. Dressed in her period costume, Sheila enjoys speaking to a variety of audiences and also conducts writing workshops based on historical fiction for students and teachers. Besides traveling, Sheila contines to enjoy other talents learned from her grandmothers like baking sourdough bread and pound cakes, cooking strawberry and blackberry preserves, and knitting.
