Nell Dickerson

Nell Dickerson grew up in the Deep South of Memphis and the Mississippi Delta where the disappearing plantation culture sparked her passion for preservation. She obtained her first BA degree in Anthropology from Southern Methodist University in Dallas. Two years later, she obtained a BFA in film at the San Francisco Art Institute. After seventeen years working in Texas, Tennessee, California, New Mexico and Switzerland, Dickerson went back to school for her Masters of Architecture from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. Since 1985, Dickerson has maintained parallel careers in architecture and working on feature films in animation, lighting and art direction/set design. Her photographs have appeared in juried and gallery exhibitions around the United States, including the Ogden Museum of Souther Art in New Orleans, New Mexico Museum of Art in Santa Fe, the Kala Art Institute in Berkeley, California, and The Spiva Center for the Arts in Joplin, Missouri. Although she travels a great deal for her work, her soul and creative muse remain in Dixie.
