Catherine Carter

I live in Cullowhee, where I coordinate the English education program at Western Carolina University (so you should drop me an email if you want to become an English teacher through Western, not just if you're interested in discussing a reading.) For the latter purpose, though, I give brief, lively poetry readings full of fairly-accessible poems from my book of poems, The Memory of Gills (LSU, 2006, winner of the North Carolina Literary and Historical Society's Roanoke-Chowan Award, and nominated by the press for a Pulitzer, a National Book Award and a Kate Tufts prize.)

Some poems are mildly R-rated, but I can avoid reading those if you anticipate a family crowd. I can comfortably travel up to about three hours from Cullowhee, working around my day job; for further venues, I'll need some kind of lodging arrangements. Give a call!
